Animal Diet - For cats and dogs
Animals have adapted to their normal diets over thousands of years; consequently Holistic Therapists are inclined to recommend a natural diet to help keep your pet in the best of health.
I suggest the following diet for Cats and Dogs. This is based on availability in New Zealand so may not necessarily be available in other countries, or may be available under a different name.
Raw
meat -horse, rabbit, venison, kangaroo or buffalo etc.
A good variety of vegetables including
greens.
Pasta or brown rice - provides
carbohydrate intake.
Organic Yogurt - provides bacteria
necessary for a healthy functioning intestine.
Full Cream Milk - for calcium and
fat intake.
Raw Garlic - a natural wormer
Brewers Yeast - Cats 2 or 3
dessertspoons. Dogs - 3 to 4 desert-spoons
(provides B complex vitamins essential for
nervous system.)
Kelp powder - Cats 1 to 2
teaspoons. Dogs 2 to 4 teaspoons
(Provides about 60 different minerals and
trace elements.)
Dolomite - Cats 1 teaspoon. Dogs 2
to 3 teaspoons.
(A natural clay providing easily
assimilated forms of calcium and magnesium.)
Raw Bones - Provides calcium and
phosphorus.
Water - Free access to water at all
times. It is useful to know how much water is consumed by the
animal on a daily basis. Any marked variation can indicate a
problem.
* All measures are intended as approximate. The size and weight of the cat or dog should be taken into consideration.
